經(jīng)過99、2000、2001、的磨練，終于做出了重大的改變,取消了援助系統(tǒng),KOF02又回復(fù)到了98的三人組隊(duì)的經(jīng)典模式，加入了對(duì)戰(zhàn)電腦時(shí)可以從兩支隊(duì)伍中選一隊(duì)作為對(duì)手的新系統(tǒng)SNK復(fù)活，他們也意識(shí)到了平衡性的重要性，此作平衡性很強(qiáng)，暴氣改成了BC，也不是暴氣增加攻擊防御了，而且加快速度，能連上很多未暴氣時(shí)不能連續(xù)的招數(shù)，同時(shí)降低攻擊力（平衡性由此可見~）;本作的必殺技種類也算多種多樣了,除了必殺技和超必殺技外還增加了隱藏必殺技,使用條件為體力1/4以下,爆氣狀態(tài)下,有一顆能量珠.游戲畫面比2001有質(zhì)的飛躍,而且每個(gè)場(chǎng)景都有天氣的變化.
