大學(xué)生理查德（克里斯托弗·里夫 飾）在畢業(yè)典禮上遇到了一個(gè)老婦人，老婦人送給他一只金表，并表示等他回來。雖然他感到非常奇怪，但事情也不了了之了。8年后他成為一個(gè)著名的劇本作家，他為了尋找靈感來到了一家酒店度假，酒店歷史悠久，在歷史陳列室內(nèi)他被一張女明星Elise（簡·西摩爾 飾）的照片深深吸引住了，并認(rèn)得她就是送金表的老婦人。原來老婦人在送于他金表的晚上已經(jīng)離世了。而他通過夢(mèng)境，回到時(shí)光倒流的70年前，發(fā)現(xiàn)自己竟與這名女明星又有一段美麗的愛情故事。
