Once upon a time, in the faraway kingdom of Dor, there was magic in the air, laughter aplenty and gallons of mouthwatering soup. From visionary filmmaker Gary Ross, this modern fairy tale features the voice talents of Matthew Broderick, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Watson, Tracey Ullman, and Robbie Coltrane. Alongside Despereaux on his adventure is composer William Ross, who armed Despereaux with a substantial symphonic score rich in melody and filled with heartfelt themes and exciting action. The music is colorful, capturing the period detail of the movie, yet featuring serious dynamic and intense music. Following nearly an hour of William Ross' symphonic splendor are two songs by Dave Stewart, Glen Ballard, and Gary Ross. The crisp recording is mixed by veteran Armin Steiner, who has recorded substantial scores for John Williams, Bruce Broughton, Henry Mancini, and many other legendary film composers.

其實早在數(shù)個月前，John Williams的個人就已經(jīng)公布，John Williams將出任哈利波特續(xù)集配樂，但原則上他只負(fù)責(zé)所有的主題旋律作曲，以及約四十分鐘左右的主要場景配樂，其餘的細(xì)節(jié)配樂與配樂的后製作業(yè)，會交由William Ross接手，因此John Williams實際上很可能根本沒有參與這部電影的后製作業(yè)，他應(yīng)該只看了小說及粗剪的毛片，就完成了我們在原聲帶裏所聽到的音樂與主題，然后這些音樂素材與第一集中的音樂，由William Ross統(tǒng)籌改編，使之與完成后製的電影真正的結(jié)合，你大概可以說，寫這些音樂的人是John Williams，但把這些音樂配到電影裏的則是William Ross．這種情況主要應(yīng)該是由於John Williams今年的檔期太滿，時間壓力太緊迫所致．不過兩部史匹伯電影（＜關(guān)鍵報告＞與＜神鬼交鋒＞），加上兩部已經(jīng)寫出出色根基的續(xù)集電影（星際大戰(zhàn)二部曲與哈利波特續(xù)集），說真的，你要John Williams推掉哪一部才好？
